Returning to Work: "I contacted Rachel because I was having problems transitioning to pumping breast milk more often when I went back to work after my maternity leave. Rachel asked a lot of good questions about my situation, and offered so much helpful advice. She gave me the information I needed to understand different options and paths I could take, and followed up with an email that reviewed what we had discussed. I found her very positive and reassuring, and I would definitely go back to her if I have any other issues!"
Latch and Let-Down: Rachel was very thorough! I appreciated how she immediately followed up with notes and tips we had gone over during our visit, so I didn't have to worry about forgetting anything or taking my own notes. I was having oversupply and a fast letdown, which made my baby cough and sputter. It was great brainstorming breastfeeding positions that might help alleviate the problem and having Rachel watch the baby feed and reassure me that the baby's latch wasn't the issue.
Pumping: "I'm so glad Rachel came along when she did. I was self-conscious about my breastfeeding questions - they felt silly and small - and hesitant to even reach out. But Rachel was so warm and friendly and understanding, I wished I'd found her sooner! She listened to my story and assured me I wasn't alone in struggling to pump at work. Her own personal breastfeeding journey resonated a lot with mine and that was so helpful. Rachel helped me formulate a plan going forward with absolutely zero judgment. I really appreciated the detailed summary she emailed me after we spoke because I was feeling so foggy about all of it. The phone call alone produced instant relief to my anxiety, and putting the plan into action helped so much!"
Nipple Shield Weaning: "I was a hopeless mom of a soon to be 3 month old who refused the breast without a nipple shield. Due to my inverted nipples, the hospital nurse gave me a nipple shield without trying to work with me first. Almost 3 months later, I was still in need of it, as my baby wouldn't nurse without it. The pumping 3 times a day to keep my milk supply up, the messy factor of using the shield and the complication of attempting to nurse in public were just half of the reasons I was desperate to ween my baby girl off the shield. Rachel was referred to me through a family member. Of course I was reluctant but, agreed to meet with her; mainly because she would come to me and work with me in the comfort of my own home. Not only that, but who can say no to one on one attention that mom groups don't offer? Rachel took my schedule into consideration and met with me when it was most convenient. Her inviting personality made it easier to explain my needs and reasons for wanting help. Right away she was positive and assured me that we (my baby and I) could do it! I felt excited and, for the first time, optimistic that I could finally just feed her by pulling out my breast! Rachel gave me tons of pointers and options to try and, after she left, followed up with an email covering everything we had gone over and told me to contact her anytime with any questions I had. After the first night of trying, I became pessimistic again. My baby just wouldn't work with me. I emailed Rachel and vented about my feelings and told her that I didn't think my baby would ever feed without the shield. Rachel emailed me back and reassured me that I was doing such a great job and to keep trying. I did exactly what she said. I kept my head up and kept trying the things we had gone over and I am happy to say I am now feeding shield free! Our feeding times have now been cut in half and breastfeeding has been more of an enjoyable experience. I owe my success to Rachel and the dedication she had with helping me. Through the whole process, I constantly emailed Rachel; she got back to me always in a timely manner. I never once felt alone in the process. She even came back for a follow up visit to see how things were going. I would recommend Rachel to anyone who needs help with breastfeeding or just for reassurance that they are doing everything right."
